On Sunday, June 6, 2010, the people of St. Andrew’s by the Sea United Methodist Church celebrated all the “Yea God!” moments of the past year with an old-time Country Fair. There were games for the kids and adults, a baking contest, and food from Bad to the Bone BBQ in San Juan. I’m always amazed by those unplanned shots that just jump out and grab you. I had a photo project that I was working on with my daughter that required a long exposure after sunset. As we hung around waiting for the sun to set, she played and I set up my gear. Eventually she got bored with her tree-climbing and mugged for the camera for 5 shots, one of which was pure gold.
I traveled to Arlington, Texas this week for the funeral of my cousin, David Killinger. As a member of the Arlington police Department, he was laid to rest in full departmental honors. It was a time to grieve, not to shoot, but I captured this image as we gathered and prepared to head out to the church. Arlington PD provided an escort for the family and as we left the house, the patrol officers had their bikes lined up along the street. I post this picture as a way of saying thanks to David’s police department family from the Killinger family for the love and honor they showed to us as we shared this loss together.
Photos from the Palisades Elementary YMCA’s Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser. This event raised money for the YMCA scholarship program, allowing children whose families have hit hard times to still participate in after-school, sports, and camping programs.
